may the journey begin!!

Today is the 1st of March, and the beginning of:

The Orbis Terrarum Challenge
The Orbis Terrarum Film Challenge
The Orbis Terrarum Bilingual Challenge
The Orbis Terrarum Poetry Challenge

Which country are you visiting in first!? I am torn. I have several really good options. I put together (with the help of several of you amazing volunteers) a list of the books read last year and links to what other bloggers thought of those books. If you email me links as we go I can just add them. Make sure to remember that I list them by the author's nation of origin, I know sometimes it isn't the best fit, but I think over all it is the best way of doing things.

Are you ready to start???

I'm starting down in 19th century Brazil with Machado de Assis' "The Posthumous Memoirs of BrĂ¡s Cubas." Machado's a fairly new discovery for me, but I read his "Dom Casmurro" last year and loved it. Obrigado, Bethany, for hosting this challenge again!

I am not sure where I am going to start yet, but I am excited to start traveling! Just to clarify, we send you the link to our reviews as we finish instead of posting them on a central post?

oh...cool, I was waiting for this to start. I haven't decided what to read for this yet, I have about 5 books which I think I will look into but I am not sure.
Thanks Bethany for doing this.

I've already started, in Chechnya, with "The Angel of Grozny" by Asne Seierstad. It's good!

Ready! I'm actually going to start off at home in the good old US of A with F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.

I will be beginning in Somalia with Nuruddin Farah's Sweet and Sour Milk.

Because of an e-mail problem, I cannot e-mail links to you. Should I just post them here?

I'm in Israel where downward spinning Ya'arah tells her tale in a stream-of-consciousness style that I think I like, but am not sure about yet.... (Love Life by Zeruya Shalev)

Could we maybe have a "Read-This-Month" post evey month where people can post links to their reviews? I just want to make sure I don't miss any new ones!!

Richard-That sounds exciting! You are welcome :) I hope you enjoy the challenge.

beastmomma- I don't know where I am starting yet either, but I too can't wait. There are some books I have to finish this week and then I can start in.

I will answer your question in a post, I am going to post a monthly Mr. Linky where we can post our reads for that month.

violetcrush- I am so glad you are excited about it, I am too!

Elizabeth- You go girl! I can't wait to see what your review says :)

raidergirl3- that is the perfect place to start out.

Mrs. B- I haven't read it, but I have heard great things. I'll wait to read your review.

Hedgie- wow, sounds great!

Yes, about the links and reviews I am going to post a monthly post where you will be able to add your link in. I hope that works for you. If not make sure and let me know.

Bookaholic13- That does sound interesting, I can't wait to see what you think when you are done!

Yes, that is an excellent idea! I will get to it right now, thanks so much for helping me out...I was going around in circles and needed some help :)

Been ill the last couple of days, but I took advantage of that and ventured into Peru, reading Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa. I can't wait to see what everyone else reads!

I am so excited about this Bethany.. I have my reads for the bi-lingual mini challenge all set.. But I am yet to figure out what I am going to read first for the main challenge. I am tempted to start with India and then take it from there..:)

I have just left West Africa. Earlier I enjoyed being in Cuba. Now, I'm not sure where I'm going. I'll know by tomorrow.

I can't see well. I see only two of my books listed. I thought I had about four??? help!
