Orbis Terrarum Film Mini-Challenge

Orbis Terrarum Film Mini-Challenge:
I know some of you enjoy subtitled films, or foreign films. I love spanish ones because I can understand them. Maybe you are bilingual and would love to sit and watch foreign films sometimes.
The OT film mini-challenge is that you watch 10 films, 10 different countries, by 10 different directors in the 10 months. (choose the movies, just like the books....by nation of origin or residence of the director, not where it was filmed or what it was about)

There is a tab for this mini-challenge and I will put up a Mr. linky and try (as best as I can) after you put up your review to go check it out and then organize the film reviews by country.

Bethany,

The following DVD labels all put out lots of international films, and some of their sites even arrange the movies by country of origin. I mention them here in case anybody wants to get some ideas on foreign films for your mini-challenge:

The Criterion Collection (US): www.criterion.com

Facets Multimedia (US):
www.facets.org

Kino (US):
www.kino.com

Eureka Video/Masters of Cinema (UK):
www.eurekavideo.co.uk

I'll continue looking for more sites (of a non-commercial nature where possible) per our e-mail exchange a while back. In the meantime, I'd love to hear where others find their foreign films if anybody's in the mood to share.

Love this idea, too. I just went down my Netflix list and found 10 selections in about 5 minutes!

This sounds terrific! I do not have a list, so I will just pick the movies as I go. Plus, I will be forced to update my on the screen section much more often.

I'm going to try. I can only watch foreign films here if I buy them but do have some already that I haven't seen yet and hopefully the odd re-watch can count too.

This will be fun! Thanks for all the links, Richard - it will be great to find some new films. :)

I left a comment. My comment disappeared. Please excuse, if I have two comments with the same words.

I am soooo excited about this challenge. I love to read about different countries. I also love to read authors from different countries. I can't wait. Now, where shall I begin? I might begin with Chiuna Achebe.

Do only new films count or may I also re-watch some?
