Orbis Terrarum Bilingual Mini-Challenge:
I was thinking that I know that some of you read in several other languages. This mini-challenge is for you.
options:
-5 books in their original language, by 5 different authors over 10 months.
-10 short stories in their original language, 10 different authors, over 10 months.
-10 children's chapter books in original language, 10 different authors, over 10 months.
There is a tab for bilingual reviews as well and I will put up a Mr. linky and try (as best as I can) after you put up your review to go check it out and then organize the bilingual reviews by country.

Could you read short stories rather than novels, or children's books?
I speak some Welsh and can read children's books, but probably not an adult one.
I'm learning Italian too, and hope to read 10 italian short stories this year (with the help of my dicyionary and grammar book)
Did I type - dicyionary!!!!!
Perhaps I need to brush up on my english too (LOL) - typing fingers going astray!
I am open to different options, like I said....I need some suggestions. Maybe we could do three options:
-5 books in their original language,by 5 different authors over10 months.
-10 short stories in their original language, 10 different authors, over 10 months.
-10 children's chapter books in original language, 10 different authors, over 10 months.
Great options - i'm in

this sounds fabulous! I am just learning to read my mother tongue - tamil which is spoken in a state in India and also in Sri Lanka. I started my first novel in tamil and i am pretty impresed with my progress.. would love to take part in a bilingual challenge and increase my tamil reading this year!
Since different people have different levels of proficiencies in their second language, I would suggest you have various levels in this challenge.
Another thing I would recommend is that the review still be in english. I would love to see how books in other languages differ from those in english..
I'm up for all of these mini-challenges so far, but I'm most excited about the bilingual and film options. Great ideas, Bethany!
I'm in!! I'll be reading Swedish writers.
I inadvertently checked 2 challenges. i read foreign authors and in their language sometimes. so I will go for 10 foreign authors in their language (if I speak it)in 10 month.
Thank-you for this terrific challenge.
Madeleine
Fabulous Idea! I am so in to pickup my favorite authors in Tamil (spoken in Tamil Nadu, India)
Bethany, of course I'm infor this too! I knew you had an idea about a bilingual challenge, but I had not realized you had worked out the details. I will go for five novels in their original language (and that will be Italian, English, French, German and Portuguese) by five authors... Will they still count towards the 10 books for the major challenge or is this completely separate?
